  39. |       or 5 1/4") with the latest version. This entitles you to phone       |
  40. |       and mail support. Plus you receive update notices and bug            |
  41. |       reports. The serialized disk will not be copy protected, but         |
  42. |       it will be for your own personal use (and is not to be               |
  43. |       distributed to others).  Your registration will also entitle you     |
  44. |       to one additional free update when a new version comes out.          |

  50. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
  51.  
  52. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  53. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
  54. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
  55. differ on details -- some request registration while others
  56. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
  57. registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
  58. using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  60. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
  61. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  62. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  63. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
  64. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
  65. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
  66. distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  67. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
  68. specific group. For example, some authors require written
  69. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
  70. Shareware.

  73. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  74. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  75. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.

  77. has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  78. product, you don't pay for it.

  87. quential, which may result from the use of PixFolio."

  89. PixFolio is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  90. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  91. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  92. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  93. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  94. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  95.

  98. useful and find that you are using PixFolio and continue to use
  99. PixFolio after a reasonable trial period, you must make a reg-
  100. istration payment of $25.00 to Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software).
  101. The $25.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any
  102. one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just
  103. like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
  104. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  105. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
  106. being used at one location while it's being used at another.
  107. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  108. same time.

  110. Commercial users of PixFolio must register and pay for their
  111. copies of PixFolio within 30 days of first use or their license
  112. is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by con-
  113. tacting Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software).

  115. Anyone distributing PixFolio for any kind of remuneration must
  116. first contact Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software) at the address above
  117. for authorization. This authorization will be automatically granted
  118. to distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines
  119. for shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  120. PixFolio immediately (However Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software) must
  121. still be advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with
  122. the latest version of PixFolio.).

  125. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
